Tom Twyford, treasurer
Tom Twyford, treasurer, Sustainable PBC, is a conservationist who hails from Ohio and spent his youth fishing and boating on Lake Erie. An avid saltwater angler, he has lived in south Florida for over 40 years. After graduating from West Virginia’s Marshall University with a degree in Parks and Conservation, Twyford began working for the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America at their Florida High Adventure Sea Base in the Florida Keys.
Over 30 years ago he moved up the coast to join the historic West Palm Beach Fishing Club where he is now President. Twyford has served as vice-chairman of the Palm Beach County Artificial Reef and Estuarine Enhancement Committee and, is a past president of Fish Florida, a non-profit organization funded through Florida’s sailfish specialty license plate. Fish Florida supports youth fishing programs and conservation efforts throughout the state. Tom was the 2022 recipient of the Melissa Laser Fish Habitat Conservation Award presented by the Atlantic Coastal Fish Habitat Partnership to individuals who further the conservation, protection, restoration, and enhancement of habitat for native Atlantic coastal fishes in a unique or extraordinary manner.
Twyford joined the Board of Sustainable PBC to “help guide policy makers and developers on the importance of putting conservation front and center when doing planning. If we don’t conserve, we will deplete the reasons that draw residents and tourists here.”
