Leanna Landsmann

Leanna Landsmann, a nationally recognized education writer and editor, spent 35 years in children’s magazine and book publishing in New York City. She was founding president of TIME Magazine For Kids. She continues to write a nationally syndicated column on school topics, A+ Advice for Parents. She has served on Presidential commissions concerning education and youth.

Landsmann has a long track record of volunteer service. She launched “Principal for a Day” in New York City’s 1100 public schools in 1994 and was volunteer director for two years.  She served terms on the boards of The Teachers’ Network; Girls Clubs of America (Girls, Inc.) and the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. She co-founded PENCIL (Public Education Needs Civic Involvement in Learning) a forum to engage business leaders in school improvement.  She has worked for environmental causes and spent three Board terms on Canandaigua Lakes Watershed Alliance, including one as President.

She served six years as co-chair of the Scripps Florida Council, a citizen’s group supporting the growth of a South Florida “bio-tech” belt. She served two terms on the board of the Jupiter inlet Lighthouse and Museum and is currently on the board of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center. She is also a board member of GreatSchools, a San Francisco-based organization that helps parents guide their children’s education. She joined Sustainable PBC “to help communicate the importance of sustainable solutions to all of Palm Beach County’s communities.
